It is important that health and wellness professionals develop psychologically, spiritually, and physically because these are all vital to overall health and if one of these is no optimal then that person Is not truly healthy. The areas I need to develop are psychologically being able to have the mental strength to prevent some of the stress that I deal with on a daily basis that could easily be prevented if I had a healthier mind set.

I have assed my health in each category by having my wife help me in with how she has think I have changed in each category since I have started this course and I gave her a 1-10 scale and asked her where she thought I was before I started this class then where she thinks I am now. The numbers didn’t change drastically but they still changed physically I was rated a 8 before and a 9.5 now, psychologically I was a 6 now she rated me as a 8 since I still do allow things to stress me out mentally. And spiritually I rated the same she gave me a 9 before and it stayed at 9.

A goal I have in each area would be physically I want to compete in a triathlon and I have been considering this for many years but I have recently started to train for all of the events each week. Psychologically my goal is to be able to have control over my emotions and how they affect me and to not get angry with work stuff and reduce the level of stress in my day to day life. Spiritually my goal is to continue to grow in my spirituality and feel a closer connection with the universe.

When it comes to implanting exercises in these areas physically I would like to start with mini triathlons and continue to grow in my yoga training. These areas of my physical life will help me gain a new since of flexibility, strength, and endurance. Psychologically I can implement more meditation and visual exercises these can help me gain a new found since of mental health and mental strength. Spiritually I can do community type of work and work out in the environment to help implement a spiritual health.

When It comes to evaluating where I am in six months I can use my wife again like I did in a previous assessment this way I have an honest opinion on my progress and what I have lacked in. For me to stay focused on achieving this long term I need to make sure I continue to grow and have a positive outlook on the practice’s and my growth.

Unit 8: Optimal Well-being: Psychological, Spiritual and Physical Keys to Health and Thriving

The exercises I found most beneficial where meditation and the visualization these have had the biggest impact on my mental fitness they allow me to relieve stress and be able to visually see my body improving by taking the time and allowing my thoughts to be controlled but yet free at the same time.

Unit 7: Current Trends and Research Supporting the Mind-Body-Spirit Paradigm

The exercise for this week I really liked it gave me a new spiritual contention that I have not been able to achieve through mediation before it allows you to take a person dead or alive or even made up and there qualities that you admire and aim at how they went about thing differently than you are to achieve a certain end result. I think this is the practice what you preach thing it is like everyone can tell you how to be happy and healthy but how many of the people telling you that is actually happy. You can implement this by finding areas of your life than need improvement and people usually notice when a person has had a change for the better and then you could then be able to help someone with certain aspects of their overall health and wellness.

unit 6 blog

The exercise and assessment were very good when you can mentally focus on the universe this is meaning other people and things and events in life. I discovered it was kind of easier to do the assessment than the exercise since the exercise has to deal more with you mentally focusing on others and this is difficult when trying to think of your enemies and others who may be hard to give them any mental energy at all. Some exercises I can do is to focus on all people and how we all have a need and that deep down we all want love and not hate.

I did find it beneficial I like learning about new ways to meditate and this was a new practice in which I can implement. I would recommend it to others but not to people beginning I think theirs to much to focus on especially when talking about your enemies I would recommend one that involves clearing the mind and focusing on self-first.

Mental workouts provide a way for you to be able to strengthen your mental ability and also relieving stress by focusing on breathing and clearing your mind of stress and outside stimuli. Mental workouts can improve physical and mental health and can also help with memory recall, focusing, and healing. You can implement this by finding time through your day where you can get away from distractions and can be in a silent place and use these mental workouts to help you mental health.

On a scale of 1-10 I rate my physical wellbeing as an 8 I get checks up about every 8 months and I believe in a daily workout routine which includes weightlifting, long distance running, boxing, and pretty balance nutrition.  When it comes to my spiritual wellbeing I would give myself a 6 I think I’m a very spiritual person but compared to others I know I don’t see myself as spiritual as they are at times. When it comes too psychologically I think I’m a 9 I was former military and I have always had a pretty strong will and go get it attitude.

A goal for my physical is to continue progress and set new physical goals I would like to obtain one day like competing in a triathlon. Spiritually I would like to take more time and gain more knowledge on my spiritual wellbeing. Psychological I would like to continue to progress and gain an expanded mental strength.

Exercises I could implement would be to do more swimming to gain a better swimming ability and to meditate more to gain a better mentality.

The relaxation exercise crime of the century is very good I am very familiar with mediation exercises and I love to learn about new ones.
